Head Veterinary Nurse - East Surrey

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head Veterinary Nurse to join a state-of-the-art centre in East Surrey. The clinic is expanding and this role will be central to building and strengthening the leadership team as the service continues to grow.

This is an ideal role for an experienced referral nurse with strong leadership skills who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient and client care while supporting and developing a nursing team.

The Practice

The centre supports veterinary practices across the South-East and works alongside specialists and Advanced Veterinary Practitioners in medicine, ophthalmology and surgery.

Facilities include:
• CT
• Endoscopy
• Fluoroscopy
• Radioactive iodine ward
• Dedicated cat ward
• Advanced diagnostic imaging and surgical facilities

You will have excellent exposure to advanced anaesthesia, imaging, surgery and inpatient care in a progressive referral environment.

The Role

As Head Veterinary Nurse, you will play a key leadership role, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the clinic and maintaining exceptional clinical standards.

The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, with participation in a fairly rotated rota that may include nights and weekends.

Key responsibilities include:
• Providing clinical leadership to the nursing team
• Leading and supporting RVNs and VCAs to deliver exceptional patient and client care
• Supporting surgeries and procedures, including all pre and post-operative care
• Leading nurse-led clinics and Schedule 3 procedures
• Inpatient care, monitoring and anaesthesia support
• Managing admissions, discharges and patient transfers
• Ensuring compliance with clinical governance and operational standards
• Coaching, mentoring and developing the nursing team
• Inspiring continuous improvement and sharing best practice

Key Benefits

• Up to £40,000 per annum
