Veterinary Surgeon — Small Animal

Oxfordshire  ·  Permanent  ·  Full-time

4 days per week  ·  1 in 10 OOH weekends  ·  £38,000–£60,000 DOE

A rare chance to join a large, well-regarded independent practice across stunning locations in the Cotswalds. With a dedicated night team, clinical freedom, and a structured career pathway from graduate through to director level — this is a practice that takes long-term development seriously. Minimum 3 years small animal experience required.

The practice

  • Large, independent small animal practice spanning a busy hospital and branch sites
  • Clinical team of 19 small animal vets including 4 at senior/director level
  • 17 RVNs, 5 student nurses and several assistants
  • Fully staffed in-house laboratory, dedicated pharmacy and dispensary team
  • Dedicated in-house night team — hand over at the end of your shift and leave on time

The role

  • Work a fair mix of consults, ops, hospital and ambulatory shifts
  • 15-minute consults with allowance for complex cases and admin, supported by a dedicated SA coordinator
  • Enjoy genuine clinical freedom to develop and carry out your own treatment plans
  • Work across the main hospital and branch sites, with some sole charge at branches
  • 4 days per week (8:00am–6:30pm) — other patterns considered
  • OOH: 1 in 10 full weekends (day shifts) with Monday morning off after a full weekend

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a small animal veterinary role
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport — the practice is set in a beautiful rural location
  • A collaborative, driven approach with high clinical standards
