A busy and progressive 24-hour small animal veterinary hospital in South Essex is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for an RVN looking for variety, strong clinical exposure, and the support of a collaborative hospital environment.

This well-equipped hospital provides round-the-clock care for the local community alongside a growing referral caseload. Services include inpatient and ward care, emergency and critical care, advanced imaging, and surgical support — all delivered under one roof.

The Role

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, capable all-round RVN who enjoys variety and thrives in a hospital setting where no two days are the same.

This role includes:

• A varied rota within a 24-hour hospital, with appropriate clinical support
• A mix of consults, theatre work, inpatient care, and ward nursing
• Exposure to emergency and critical care alongside experienced clinicians
• Opportunities to contribute to and develop nurse-led clinics and services

Key Responsibilities

• Nurse consults including vaccinations, weight clinics, post-operative checks, and client education
• Inpatient and ward nursing with hands-on monitoring and care
• Theatre support for routine and more advanced procedures
• Assisting with emergency and critical care cases
• Supporting student nurses and newly qualified colleagues where appropriate

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse
• Compassionate, reliable, and patient-focused
• Confident working across multiple areas of nursing
• A strong team player with excellent communication skills
• Keen to develop professionally within a hospital environment
• Newly qualified nurses are welcome, with structured support provided
