A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a friendly and supportive small animal practice in Birmingham. This is an exciting role within a busy and well-established clinic, offering real variety in caseload, clinical autonomy, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to both patients and clients.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to manage their own cases while working alongside a skilled nursing team, with access to a wider professional network of referral hospitals and advanced diagnostic services. This role is ideal for a veterinary surgeon who enjoys a collaborative environment and is keen to continue developing their clinical interests.
Practice Environment
The practice is modern and well-equipped, providing the tools required to deliver high-quality veterinary care. Facilities include:
- Digital X-ray
- Ultrasound
- In-house laboratory
- Multiparameter patient monitoring equipment
You will be joining a close-knit team that values collaboration, compassion, and clinical excellence, creating a supportive environment where team members are encouraged to grow professionally.
Working Pattern
- Full-time position
- 1 in 3 Saturday rotation
- Two weeks of on-call duties per year
- Participation in a bank holiday rota (approximately two per year)
Key Responsibilities
In this role, the Veterinary Surgeon will:
- Deliver high-quality clinical care during consultations and surgical procedures
- Develop and discuss tailored treatment plans with clients
- Maintain excellent clinical standards in line with regulatory and operational requirements
- Work collaboratively with veterinary nurses and support staff
- Share knowledge and contribute to professional development within the wider clinical team
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will:
- Be a qualified Veterinary Surgeon with MRCVS registration
- Have at least 5 years of clinical experience
- Demonstrate strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills
- Be passionate about delivering exceptional patient and client care
- Have an interest in ongoing professional development and clinical progression
