Senior Consulting Nurse — Department Lead

Kent  ·  Permanent  ·  Full-time

40 hours across 4 days  ·  1 in 6 Saturday mornings  ·  1 in 12 on-call weekends

A truly rare opportunity for an ambitious RVN to step into a department lead role at a forward-thinking multidisciplinary small animal hospital in Kent. This position is centred around nurse-led consulting, preventative care and the ground-up development of a dedicated feline hospital — a chance to leave a real mark on the future of a progressive practice.

The practice

The role

  • Head up the nursing consulting department, setting the bar for nurse-led services
  • Design and roll out advanced nurse-led clinics across preventative care, senior wellness, medical management and post-surgical recovery
  • Play a central part in shaping a dedicated feline hospital within the existing site
  • Take ownership of the in-house laboratory — quality control, diagnostics and workflows
  • Support consulting vets during appointments to ensure smooth, high-quality client interactions
  • Uphold rigorous infection control and hygiene standards throughout

What we're looking for

  • RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • A track record in nurse-led consulting with strong independent clinical reasoning
  • A genuine interest in feline nursing and cat-friendly care
  • Leadership experience or a clear readiness to step up into a department lead position
  • Hands-on experience with in-house laboratory diagnostics and quality assurance
  • Strong communication skills and a calm, professional manner in a busy environment
