Veterinary Surgeon – Full Time - Essex

A modern, purpose-built small animal practice in Essex is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and forward-thinking team. The practice is fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including digital and dental X-ray, flexible endoscopes, CT and MRI access, and orthopaedic equipment for procedures such as cruciate and patella luxation repairs.

The practice offers a strong focus on modern anaesthesia and pain management, alongside developing services including laparoscopic spays, laser therapy treatments, and pet travel certification. The team is highly experienced and supportive of professional development, offering mentoring and career progression.

The clinical team comprises 4 vets, 3 qualified nurses, 3 student nurses, a veterinary care assistant, and a dedicated client care team, supported by reception staff and a practice manager. The environment values compassion, clinical excellence, and teamwork, offering flexibility to tailor the role to individual strengths and interests, including consult-only or mixed consult and surgery roles.

Working Pattern:

  • Full-time, 40 hours/week
  • 1 in 4 weekends (Sat 9am–6pm, Sun 10:30am–4:30pm)
  • No out-of-hours or bank holiday work
  • Flexible weekday hours available
  • Permanent or fixed-term contracts

Requirements:

  • RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon
  • Ideally 1–2 years’ experience, though newly qualified/graduate vets considered
  • Strong communication and team-working skills
  • Passion for animal welfare and gold-standard patient care
  • Certificate holders or those working towards one are encouraged
